AQUAMAN (LILI LEDY)
Lili Ledy obtained the license to distribute Super Powers figure in Mexico. The Lili Ledy line is likely exclusively
comprised of first series figures. Having said that, it remains unclear whether all twelve characters showcased on the
Lili Ledy cardback were actually released to consumers. Documentation of carded examples exist for Aquaman, Batman, Lex Luthor, Robin, and Wonder Woman. Loose examples of these characters including Superman have surfaced via Mexican collectors. One of those,
figures, Aquaman, is showcased in this entry. All six confirmed Lili Ledy characters exhibit differences ranging from subtle to extremely obvious when compared to
Kenner versions, however the often poor quality images abundant in online auctions make identifying loose Lili Ledy
figures challenging in many instances.
The third entry photo, shown above, provides a side-by-side photographic comparison between the Lili Ledy and Kenner versions.
Some differences are challenging to clearly capture in photos even when deliberately attempting to do so, however I believe
the images in this entry illustrate them adequately when coupled with textual explanations. The unique characteristics of the
Lili Ledy Aquaman figure include:
- Slightly deeper orange plastic torso and arms
- Slightly darker green glove paint application
- Glossy green glove paint aplication (Kenner version features non-glossy, matte finish)
- Noticeably darker green plastic legs
- Noticeably whiter paint in the neck region (Kenner version is more pinkish in comparison)
The final photograph (Left: Lili Ledy, Right: Kenner) cleary captures the neck coloration difference and also shows the
darker gloves of the Lili Ledy figure.
Lili Ledy Aquaman, The Flash, Robin, and Wonder Woman figures exhibit the same copyright information and placement as their Kenner
counterparts, while Lili Ledy Batman and Superman figures completely lack copyright information for unknown reasons. I
cannot comment on copyright information pertaining to the remaining 6 figures, if they were indeed released, since I've
never had an opportunity to examine Lili Ledy versions of them.
